Njord Aquashipping has entered into a construction contract for two new well boats, with an option for additional vessels.

Njord Aquashipping AS is proud to announce that we have entered into a construction contract for two new well boats, with delivery in 2027. The contract also includes an option for additional vessels, which marks an important next step in our growth and development.

Njord Aquashipping AS was started last year with the purchase of two well boats under construction. The company has successfully phased in these vessels and secured contracts for both. We feel that we are a welcome addition to the industry, and the positive development now gives us the opportunity to further expand our fleet.

The new vessels of 4,700 m³ will be built at Aas Mek. Verksted AS, known for its expertise in the construction of well boats. With their background and our operating experience, we ensure top quality on the boats both technically and in relation to fish health.

The vessels will have a battery hybrid solution with a substantial battery pack, diesel electric propulsion and heat recovery. They will be equipped with azimuth propellers for better maneuverability and efficiency. We have chosen to prioritize Norwegian suppliers to ensure high quality and local value creation.

The new boats will also be equipped with the latest in fish handling equipment, specially designed for efficient and gentle de-lice removal and sorting. They have a large capacity for closed/semi-closed transport, large fresh water capacity, and extra filtration to optimize operation. The vessels are rigged for smolt, slaughter fish, fresh water desalination with self-produced fresh water, and have space for desalination equipment.

“This is an exciting step for Njord Aquashipping AS. We are very pleased to be able to cooperate with Aas Mek. Verksted AS, and we look forward to strengthening our fleet with these state-of-the-art vessels. We thank our employees for their hard work and dedication , who have made this possible, and we look forward to developing together with new customers,” says Tomas Okstad, Managing Director of Njord Aquashipping AS.

“From the shipyard’s side, we see the contracts with Njord Aquashipping AS as very important for our position as a leading wellboat builder. We look forward to a long and good collaboration with Njord Aquashipping, which has the ambition to become a significant player in wellboat services,” says the general manager Frode J. Aas in Aas Mek. Workshop AS.
