Njord Aquashipping AS is strengthening its focus on modern wellboat capacity and has now signed long-term contracts for two of its newbuildings with Mowi. At the same time, the collaboration with Aas Mek. Verksted AS is being expanded through an additional construction contract for a third vessel, with delivery in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The first vessel, Njord Hidra, will be delivered in the first quarter of 2027 and the second vessel, Njord Stad, will be delivered in the second quarter of 2027. Both vessels will enter into longer contracts for Mowi Norge.
The fact that Mowi – a leading player in global aquaculture – has chosen to enter into long-term agreements with Njord is both important and motivating for us. As a small, Norwegian-owned shipping company in growth, we see this as a clear declaration of confidence. The agreements lay the foundation for further development and strengthen our role as a relevant and reliable partner in the aquaculture industry.
With the third vessel – which will also be built at Aas Mek. Verksted AS – the shipyard will complete three vessels for Njord during 2027. All vessels, each 4,700 m3, are designed with a clear focus on gentle handling, effective delousing and biological control, and will meet the high demands of modern aquaculture operations.
Comment from Njord Aquashipping:
“We greatly appreciate the trust Mowi has shown us through the long-term contracts. For us, this is an important step in the development of Njord as a provider of modern and fish welfare-oriented wellboat services. Delivering vessels to such a professional and quality-conscious player gives us a solid foundation to continue the development of the company,” says Tomas Okstad, CEO of Njord Aquashipping AS.
Comment from Aas Mek. Verksted AS:
“We are very pleased to build on our collaboration with Njord Aquashipping, a shipping company with a strong focus on quality and fish welfare, and we look forward to delivering three high-tech wellboats of our own design to the shipping company during 2027,” says Øyvind Heggdal, General Manager of Aas Mek. Verksted AS.
